Morton - Charles E. “Chuck” Nichol, 74, of Morton, died at 11:18 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born June 20, 1935, in Hadley, Pike County, Ill., to B. Frank and Ada (Neff) Nichol. He married Joyce Schmidgall on June 24, 1956, in Groveland.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Nichol of Morton; one son, Steve (Lori) Nichol of Morton; one daughter, Susan Nichol of Tremont; and one grandson, Adam Nichol of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Moore.
Charles worked as a machine repairman at Caterpillar Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Morton United Methodist Church and United Auto Workers Local 974 in East Peoria. He served as a firefighter with the Morton Fire Department for 22 years.
