Cheryl L. Mumm

September 21, 1944 ~ August 11, 2018 (age 73)


MORTON - Cheryl L. Mumm, 73, of Morton, passed away Sat., Aug. 11, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Cheryl was born Sept. 21, 1944, in Pekin, to Jack and Eleanor (Bennett) Hymbaugh. She first married James Richard Cox, and later married Pete Mumm in Pekin; both deceased.
Surviving are one daughter, Kim (Chris) West of Morton; one son, Curtis Cox of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Tracie Earl, Corey West, and Nicole West, all of Morton; two brothers, Jack (Mary Jane) Hymbaugh of Ariz., and Mike Stieghorst of Dillon, Ill.; and one sister, Debra Bohannon. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Red Stieghorst, of Dillon, Ill.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jerry.
She attended classes at ICC.
Cheryl worked at The 121 Club in Tremont as a waitress. Later, she and her husband, owned and operated Pete's Shoe Store in Morton.
She was a member of the Morton Art Guild.
Cheryl loved her family. In her earlier years, she enjoyed being a Brownie Leader in Morton. Cheryl was very attentive to her grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them; she loved them more than life itself. Cheryl was an animal lover who especially loved dogs. She was passionate about china painting and thoroughly enjoyed painting with oils. She also loved music, playing the guitar, and enjoyed dancing. Cheryl was an avid gardener who took great pride in keeping a beautiful flower garden.

A visitation for Cheryl will be held at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton on Fri., Aug. 17, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be no further services. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.

Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House in Peoria.
