EUREKA – Alice M. Deck, 74, of Danville, Ill., formerly of Eureka, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 26, 1947, in Ramsey, Ill., to Dallas and Virginia (Williams) Hopkins. She married Gerald Johnson in 1966, and later married James Deck in 1977. They both survive.

Also surviving are two children, David (Misa) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Carrie Johnson of Minier, Ill.; two grandsons, Alex Johnson and Jesse Sprinkle; four brothers, Floyd (Joann) Hopkins of Ramsey, Ill., Marshall Hopkins of Peoria, Russell Hopkins of Peoria Heights, and Darryl (Phoung) Hopkins of Des Moines, Iowa; and five sisters, Ethel Selvey of Morton, Elaine (Roger) Jorgensen of Brimfield, Mary (Jack Bigelow) Hopkins of McKinney, Texas, Janet (Mark) Koonce of East Peoria, and Karen Lynne Hopkins of St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was preceded in death by one infant son, Robert Christopher Johnson; both parents; and one infant brother, Charles Kevin Hopkins.

Alice had worked at Eureka College in the dining hall in the 1990’s.

She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid canoer and was a member of the Mackinaw Canoe Club. Alice was also a member of the Foresters Fraternal Organization. She was involved in several sewing groups in Eureka and Danville.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Alice was a member of Eureka Church of the Nazarene where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, with Rev. Gordon Barrick officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial of cremated remains will be at Olio Cemetery in Eureka.

Memorials may be made to Transitions Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
