WEST PALM BEACH, FL. – Aloysius F. “Al” Cap, 79, of West Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Morton, stepped into eternity on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at JFK Hospital in Atlantis, Fla.
He was born on April 9, 1943, in Hammond, Ind., to John and Rose (Filipowski) Cap. He married Linda Holm in Joliet, Ill., on August 3, 1968. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2010. He was also preceded in death by two siblings, Dominick Cap and Jeanette Stanford.
Surviving are his five children, Sarah (Jason) Williams of East Peoria, Adam (Jody) Cap of Ottawa, Leah (Roger) Collins of Morton, Nathan (Kari) Cap of East Peoria, and Rose (Robert) Haslett of Lexington, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Austin (Stephanie), Aaron, Olivia, Chloe (Clay), Reese, Samuel, Lynde, Kailey, Ian, Avery, Reuben, and Rexton; one great-grandchild, Remy; and Carla Sheedy of West Palm Beach, Fla., who put the sparkle back in his eye. Also surviving are four brothers, John (Sandi) Cap of Olympia, Washington, Anthony (Nancy) Cap of Paw Paw, Mich., Matt (Maria) Cap of Joliet, and David (Christine) Cap of Channahon, Ill.
Al was a United States Army veteran. He worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 41 years, retiring in 2006 as a systems architect.
Al loved traveling, especially cruising. He enjoyed gardening, camping, wine tasting and cheese boards. Al was fond of lighthouses and waterfalls. He was passionate about babies, family and tradition. He lived his life to the fullest.
A private family gathering will take place. A public Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the KC Hall in Morton. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or World Vision.
