Betty Unsicker

MORTON – Betty J. Unsicker, 97, of Morton, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at her home.

She was born October 18, 1925, in East Peoria, Ill., to Albert and Gertrude (Henrichs) Stegmaier. Betty married Arthur Enlow, Jr. on April 27, 1943 in Peoria County, Ill. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1970. Betty then married Lester Unsicker on July 5, 1975, in Tremont. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2004. Betty was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Ruth Enlow; grandson-in-law, Donnie Kersh; brothers, Clifford and Kenneth Stegmaier and sister, Virginia Williamson.

Surviving are her son, Ronald Enlow of Lancaster, Ohio; daughter, Valerie (Eugene) Veginski of Morton; grandchildren, Bryan (Krystal) Veginski, Courtney (Joe) Beiter, Kelly Kersh and Ryan (Heidi) Enlow; great grandchildren, Seth Turner, Hunter Kersh, Holly Kersh, Makaila and Grace Beiter, Oliver and Owen Veginski and Jaden and Traylie Enlow.

Betty volunteered at Apostolic Christian Restmor, We Care and Sophia’s Kitchen. She was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bradley basketball.   

Betty was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton and Prime Timers with Farm Bureau.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Msgr. Gerald Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Sophia’s Kitchen.
