Beverly DeChaney

MORTON – Beverly A. DeChaney, 74, of Morton, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Aperion Care Morton Villa in Morton.

She was born on September 13, 1947, in Decatur, Ill., to Cletus and Kathryn (Fitzwater) Baker. She married Mike DeChaney in Decatur, Ill., on October 4, 1969.

Surviving are her daughter, Kelli (Don Ferguson) DeChaney of Washington, Ill.; two grandchildren, Justin (Hannah) DeChaney and Paige DeChaney; and siblings, Carolyn (Warren) Wright of Big Fork, Minn., Kenneth (Lynn) Baker of Aldrich, Mo. and Bruce (Pam) Baker of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by one son, Shawn DeChaney; both parents; and sister-in-law, Jan DeChaney.

Bev was a custodian at Morton High School for over 20 years.

She cherished her first car, which was a 1966 Ford Mustang. Bev was an avid collector of “Gone With The Wind” and Route 66 items and memorabilia. She enjoyed playing Bingo on Thursday nights, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and her favorite stock car racer Shannon Babb, and supporting all Morton High School sports.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Burial of cremated remains will be held at Boiling Springs Cemetery in Decatur, Ill. at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
