Brenda E. Hopkins-Cox

MORTON - Brenda E. Hopkins-Cox, 51, of Morton, formerly of Monmouth, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at her home after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June of last year.
She was born on December 28, 1968, the daughter of Lyman and Barbara (Pendleton) White. Brenda married Mark Cox in February of 2015.
Surviving Brenda is her husband, Mark Cox of Morton; her three sons Ian and Kathleen (Saunders) Hopkins of Guam, Peyton Hopkins and Camden Hopkins, both of Morton; and one brother, Lance White of Grayslake, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Lyndall White.
She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1987. Brenda graduated from Illinois State University with a major in elementary education before having three children and becoming a caregiver for her boys. Brenda then worked as a teacher for the Morton School District and was loved by all students that she taught.
Brenda was a member of Faith Church in Monmouth and later in life became a member at Grace Church in Morton. She was an amazing caregiver and wife for her husband as he has battled and continues to fight prostate cancer. She left no stone unturned in finding the best medical care for Mark to extend his life. She also cared for her mother, Barbara, for years as she struggled with dementia. Brenda was the most caring mother one could imagine. Her children meant everything to her. Brenda's friends loved her for her fun-loving spirit and kind-hearted soul.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Grace Church in Morton.  Visitation will be from 2- 4 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life..

Burial of cremated remains will take place at Olena Cemetery in Gladstone, Illinois.
