EAST PEORIA - Cecelia G. (Dallinger) Henricks, 89, of East Peoria, departed this life on Sat., Sept. 9, 2017 at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on July 18, 1928, on a farm in Congerville, Ill., to Rudolf and Emelia (Raebel) Dallinger. She married Andrew P. Henricks on June 28, 1952, in Peoria. He died Nov. 6, 1988. She later married Darwin "T-Bone" Ewers on Oct. 31, 1992. He died Jan. 23, 2014.
Cecelia was also predeceased in death by her parents; four brothers, Cecil, Donald, Milton and Loren; and four sisters, Francis Hugill, Mildred Fletcher, Vivian Goetz, and Lillian Henderson.
She leaves behind her two sons Alan (Gwenne) Henricks of Redington Beach, Fla., and Gary (Carolyn) Henricks of Morton; six grandchildren Amanda (Alex) Ingersoll of Stevens Point, Wis., Nathaniel Henricks of St. Louis, Mo., Andrew (Rachel) Henricks of Alexandria, Va., Derek (Kara) Henricks of Louisville, Ky., Dylan (Sophie) Henricks of Morton, and Kelsey Henricks of Morton; and 5 great-grandchildren, Oliver, Audrey, Phoebe, and Ruby Henricks, and Oscar Ingersoll. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Barbara (Best) Dallinger of Princeville, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.
Cecelia, or "CeCe" as she came to be known, graduated from Princeville High School and worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. from 1947-1956. She served the City of East Peoria at the Planning department and Housing Authority, retiring in 1986. She volunteered for many years at Methodist Medical Center, retiring from there in 2009.
After retirement, Cecelia enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Hillcrest Tuesday morning golf league. She also cherished her Red Hat friends and their luncheons. She loved to wear purple, unless she was wearing one of her Cubs shirts. Cecelia was a lifelong avid Cubs fan, and thoroughly reveled in last year's victorious season.
Cecelia loved singing. She was a longtime member of Caterpillar's Mixed Chorus, a founding member of the Peoria Area Civic Chorale, and sang with the Philharmonic Chorale. She was a devoted member of the Arcadia Presbyterian Church Choir and Praise Team and the United Presbyterian Praise Team. She was most recently a member of Grace Church in Morton.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sun., Sept. 17, 2017, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. An additional visitation will also be held at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. on Mon., Sept. 18, with a funeral service following at 10 a.m. Pastor Tim Bertsche will officiate. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

Cecelia was an active supporter of East Peoria's Festival of Lights, and Andy built the star that shines over East Peoria during the festival. Memorial contributions for rebuilding and maintaining the star may be made in Cecelia's memory to The Henricks Star, East Peoria Festival of Lights, #1 Eastside Drive, East Peoria IL 61611, or to the Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria for designation to the Congenital Heart Center.

The Henricks family truly appreciates the caregivers at Courtyard Estates, Riverview and Apostolic Christian Restmor who enhanced the quality of the later years of her life.
