MORTON – Cynthia L. “Cindy” Nance, 77, of Morton, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at her home.

She was born on January 22, 1945, in Peoria, Ill., to Kenneth and Ora Lee (Benson) Speerly. She married Clarence Nance in Salt Lake City, Utah, on December 13, 1963. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, Matthew (Sandra) Nance of Tucson, Ariz., Melissa Nance of Morton, Mark (Michelle) Nance of Allentown, Ill., Marlana (Adam) Hughes of Oro Valley, Ariz., and Micah (Meghan) Nance of Wylie, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Kassandra Speerly of Washington, Ill.; and brother, David Speerly of Elko, Nev.

She was preceded in death by both parents; and a brother, Timothy.

Cynthia was a member of the National Hosta Society, Central Illinois Hosta Society and Peoria Garden Club.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Morton, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, with Bishop Marty Jarnagin of the Morton Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presiding. The service will be livestreamed via zoom at

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday prior to the service. Burial will be at the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to her church missionary fund.
