Del Dickerson

Del-Rae Aaron Dickerson, 71, of Morton, IL, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at his home in Morton.

Del was born on August 20, 1952, at home, in Belleville, IL, to Elsie and Dwayne Dickerson. He married Rebecca Johnson in 1977, in Dexter, MO. They lived in Lee's Summit, MO, before moving to Morton.

He worked for the Social Security Administration in the Kansas City, Peoria and Pekin offices for his entire career. Del gave back to his community by coaching sports teams, being a band parent and serving his church. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and helping others with Social Security concerns.

Del is survived by his wife and three children, Sarah (Steve) Schrock of Morton, Margie (Robbie) Gordon of Kingwood, TX, and Lowell (Christine) Dickerson of Bayville, NY. He was proud of his seven grandchildren: Simon and Beatrice Schrock, John and Lucas Gordon and Caroline, Evelyn and Jacqueline Dickerson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton. A private burial will be held at Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, IL, immediately following the funeral.

Memorials may be made to Lutheran World Relief or to the Bethel Lutheran Foundation - Missions Fund.
