Dena (Borcherding) Carnal

MORTON – Dena R. Carnal, 58, of Morton, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born on June 29, 1963, in Peoria, Ill., to James and Judy (Richard) Kelso. James preceded her in death in 1972, and she was later adopted by Don Borcherding. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Carnal; and her parents.
Surviving is her son, Jason (Jennifer) Carnal of Morton; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Skylar, and Laura Carnal, all of Morton; sister, Lisa (Don) Newell of Pekin; two nieces and one nephew, Randi (Aaron) Urfer, Scott (Sammie) Newell, and Kayli (Jason) Berry.
Dena was a graduate of Morton High School Class of 1981, and was a United States Navy veteran, serving on USS Cape Cod. She was a pediatric home health nurse for 34 years, last working in December 2021.
Dena was a giving woman and made friends with everyone. She was an avid fan of all Morton sports, especially the Morton Hogs high school football team and the Morton Marching Band.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morton Community Bank in care of Nicholas Carnal Education Trust Fund.
