Donald Getz

MORTON – Donald L. Getz, 100, of Morton, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at Carle Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

He was born on March 14, 1923, in Morton, to Sam and Lydia (Waldbeser) Getz. Don married Norma Stieglitz on January 12, 1946, in Bartonville, Ill. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2001. Don was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Getz; two brothers, Robert and Elton Getz, and one sister, Helen Fleming.

Surviving are his children, Vicki Gehring of Morton, Patti (Roger) Bushong of Normal and Mary (Rick) Andes of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, Chris (Beth) Gehring, Tina (Mike) Hasty, Jeff (Bobbi Jo) Andes, Chelsea (Matt) Termeer, Jessica (Tripp) Means and Erich (Jessica) Bushong; and 12 great-grandchildren, Bree, Cate, Emma Gehring, Carson and Brooklynn Hasty, Abigail, Sam and Zeke Termeer, Josiah, Theo and Zeke Andes and Emmy Means.

Don was a United States Army veteran having served during WWII.

He was a bricklayer for 36 years.

A private graveside service will be held at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Grace Church in Morton.
