MORTON – Donna (Rankin) Hauter died on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by four generations of family. She was blessed to be born into the Christian family of Ralph and Freda (Korte) Rankin on July 7, 1932, in Decatur, Ill.
She grew in her faith at Mackinaw Christian Church where she married Robert Hauter on August 8, 1954. Their relationship began with love at first sight and spanned six years of dating, 67 years of love, friendship and marriage. They enjoyed one another and were best friends.
Donna is survived by her husband, Bob Hauter of Morton; two children, Bruce (Barbara) Hauter of Naperville, Illinois, and DeAnn (Dan) Hohulin of Glendale, Arizona.
She enjoyed her eight grandchildren and delighted in six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Susan (Joe) Knoerle and brother-in-law, Jerry (Jackie) Hauter, both of Morton. Donna dearly loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teri Horner; both parents and three sisters.
She continued to grow in her faith at New Castle Bible Church. She loved walking, swimming, reading biographies, and watching most sports.
Donna graduated from Dee-Mack High School in 1950 and went directly to Mennonite Hospital for nurse training. After graduation, she worked at Mennonite as a nursing instructor, as a nurse in the newborn nursery, and night supervisor before moving with her family to Morton. She retired from the Apostolic Christian Restmor nursing home in Morton in 1985.
A private Celebration of Life for family is planned for a later date.
The family has requested no flowers or memorial donations.
