INDIANAPOLIS – Dorothy Jean Weinstein, 88, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Morton, Ill., passed away into Jesus’ arms on August 15, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.

Jean was born on January 25, 1934, in Pekin, Ill., to Arthur and Margaret (Mischler) Rassi of Morton, Ill. She was married to William Jacob Weinstein, on July 19, 1953. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Katie Weinstein.

Surviving are her children, Nancy (Robert) Gregori of Indianapolis, Ind. and Cody (Mary) Weinstein of Carmel, Ind.; three grandchildren, Megan Weinstein of Carmel, Ind., Maggie (Nick) Pisano of Sheridan, Ind. and Aaron (Erica) Gregori of Zionsville, Ind.; and five great-grandchildren, Rocky Pisano, Nico Pisano, Carmella Pisano, Charlotte Gregori, and River Gregori.

Jean attended and graduated from Morton Township High School and retired from Cilco/Ameren in Washington, Ill. She was a member of Grace Church in Morton, Ill.

Jean’s happiness was centered around her family and friends. She enjoyed nothing more than to entertain. Jean’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. She and Bill would take their grandchildren on yearly vacations to exciting destinations. Jean was the catalyst that perpetuated a long-lasting relationship that has held four cousins together since childhood and across great distances. Due to Jean’s devotion, the closeness between the cousins is even stronger today.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Knapp Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Rev. Kirk Moser officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:15 a.m.  prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Marine Corps Toys for Tots.
