MORTON - Earl L. Brown, 91 of Morton, passed away Wed., Oct. 23, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Bloomington, to Jesse E. and Mabel (Hefler) Brown. He married Mary Lindenfelser on July 13, 1946, in East Peoria.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary; their daughter, Janice Thompson of Washington, and her daughter, Brenda (Richard) Thompson Rukstalis of Morton; two sons, Robert (Becky) Brown of Sycamore, Ill., and James (Anita) Brown of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother-in-law, Stuart (Jean) McKneight.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant grandson, Heath Thompson; as well as two brothers and two sisters.
He was a 1945 graduate of East Peoria High School and also a graduate of the Caterpillar 4-year Machinist Apprentice Course.
He retired as Caterpillar Operations Manager after 43 years of service.
Earl was an active member of Morton United Methodist Church for 70 years, and also of the Greater Peoria, McClean County and Prairie Rose Societies.
He lived his life with honor, kindness and integrity. His focus was on helping others achieve their potential. He was deeply loved and cherished by his wife, family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Fri. Oct. 26, 2018 at Morton United Methodist Church, 420 N. Tennessee Avenue, Morton, IL 61550, with Rev. Gary L. Feldman officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. preceding the service at the church on Friday.
