MORTON - Elaine J. Sutter, 86, of Alta Loma, Cali., formerly of Morton, passed away Wed., Nov. 21, 2018.
Elaine was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Chetek, Wis., to William and Alba (Thompson) Owen. She married Lester E. Sutter, Jr. on Nov. 25, 1955. He preceded her in death just four days earlier on Nov. 17, 2018.
Surviving are her two daughters, Victoria "Vicki" (Dr. James D.) Smith of Alta Loma, Cali. and Virginia "Ginni" (Dr. Kevin L.) Bartlett of Everett, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Shirley (Richard) Larson of Rochester, Minn., and one brother, William T. (Donna) Owen of Tampa, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester and her parents.
Elaine graduated from Lake Forest High School. She then attended and graduated from Moody Bible Institute. She went on to attaining both a bachelor's and master's degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University.
Elaine was a 2nd and 3rd grade elementary school teacher in Morton Unit School District 709 for 30 years. She was a member of the Teacher's AAUW.
Elaine was a member of Grace Church in Morton.

A memorial service for both Elaine and Lester will be held at 10:30 a.m., at Grace Church in Morton on January 18, 2019. Visitation will take place from 9:30-10:15 A.M., prior to the service. Burial will take place at Groveland Evangelical Mennonite Cemetery in Groveland, Ill.

Memorials may be made to Wycliff Bible Translators for Dan and Kathy Petersen or Jean and Joy Viguier, MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) for David and Ashley Petersen, CRM (Christian Resource Ministries) for Nick and Emily Greenwood or Pacific Church Network for church planting in southern California.
