Esther Fernandez Alcala

MORTON – Esther Fernandez Alcala, 83, of Morton, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born March 27, 1940, to Luis and Petra (Rodriguez) Alcala in Yurecuaro, Michoacan, Mexico. Esther married Luis Fernandez on December 23, 1962, in Yurecuaro, Michoacan, Mexico.

Esther is survived by her husband Luis Fernandez of Morton; three daughters, Leticia (Ron) Fernandez-Ranson of Morton; Anna (Brian) Rose of Morton and Maria Fernandez of Chicago; grandchildren, Monica Ranson, Annalyssa (David Allison) Alvarez, Aaron Alvarez, Katie Alvarez, Matthew (Brittney) Rose, Maggie (Matthew) Ray, Mitchell Rose, Maryn Rose; great-grandchildren, Dawson Allison, Connor and Aiden Rose and Lyle Ray; and one sister, Angelina Alcala of Yurecuaro, Michoacan, Mexico.

Esther was preceded on death by her siblings, Alfonso, Antonio, Margarita, Maria Elena, Maria de Jesus and Berta.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton with Father Adam Cesarek officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Esther’s cremated remains will be laid to rest in a niche at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Yurecuaro, Michoacan, Mexico.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton or OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
