MORTON – Floretta May Kracht, 88, of Morton, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Morton.

She was born May 25, 1935, in Peoria, Ill., to Paul D. Sr. and Elizabeth (Somers) Hill. Floretta married Lavern Kracht on December 23, 1954, in Peoria, Ill. He survives.

She is also survived by five children, Rebecca Canamore of Hopedale, Ill., Patricia Somers of Wichita, Kan., Susan (Doyle) Humphries of Hopedale, Ill., Charles (Bettye Amick) Kracht of Richardson, Texas and Cynthia Diaz of Morton; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Jeanette (Larry) Olson, Leah (Richard) Bown and Rosetta Moessner; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Hill.

Floretta was preceded in death by one brother, Paul D. Hill, Jr.

Floretta was a devoted wife and a dedicated mother, who made most of her children’s clothes and was a Girl Scout leader when her children were young. Floretta was a dog lover, especially to her Lucy.

She was a fan of reading and watching both mystery books and movies. Floretta was known for her love of music and dancing.  She enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, feeding the ducks, her many friends at the retirement center and traveling. She had multiple ventures to England and traveled across United States and loved the years spent in Japan. Floretta was a lover of birds, squirrels, butterflies and flowers.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Rev. Frank Zimmerman officiating. Floretta's celebration of life service will be live streamed and can be viewed via the Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home Facebook profile, http://www.facebook.com/knappjohnsonfuneralhome at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
