GARY A. DRUMMOND
MORTON - Gary A. Drummond, 89, of Morton, passed away Thurs., April 12, 2018 at Apostolic Christian Restmor Nursing Home in Morton.
Gary was born Feb. 27, 1929 in Presho, S.D., to Claude and Leona (Tiedje) Drummond. He married Norma Thomas on Sept. 11, 1955 in Roanoke, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Norma, of Morton; one son, Mark (Carol) Drummond of Quincy, Ill.; one daughter, Lisa (Barry) Cruse of Wheaton, Ill.; five grandchildren, David (Alexandra) Marold, Katie Cruse, Alexander Drummond, Jane Drummond, and Kevin Cruse; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Rona Vickers of Paris, Texas.
Gary was preceded in death by twin sisters, Veda and Vida.
He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Gary was a 1961 graduate of Bradley University. He worked in management at Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria for 37 years, retiring in 1985. After retiring, Gary worked at PMP Fermentation in Peoria until 1991 and also worked at the Employers Association in Peoria from 1991 to 2002. He enjoyed being a Dale Carnegie instructor.
Gary was a member and Past Master of Mackinaw Masonic Lodge 132 AF & AM and was also a member of Peoria Consistory Mohammed Shrine.
Gary was an avid golfer. Regardless of the weather, he never met a golf course he didn't like. That sentiment did not always extend to every campsite he slept in as Scoutmaster of Troop 178.

Gary was a dedicated member of and held many different positions in Morton United Methodist Church, where services will be held. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Mon., April 16, 2018, with Rev. Gary L. Feldman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will take place at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

In honor of his granddaughter, Katie, memorials may be made to Misericordia Home in Chicago, or to the Morton United Methodist Church Building Fund, or to the Morton United Methodist Men.
