Gary L. Schmidgall

Gary L. Schmidgall, 77, of Morton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Mon., Dec. 24, 2018, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
Gary was born Sept. 8, 1941, in Peoria, to Albert and Josephine (Jolly) Schmidgall. He married Nancy Fehr on Jan. 19, 1963, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife of Morton; seven children, Tim (Paula) Schmidgall, Sr. of Morton, Angie (John) Burkley of Tremont, David Schmidgall of Peoria, Andy (Jessica) Schmidgall of Washington, Jill Kraushaar of Morton, Amy Gayle of Washington, and Matt Schmidgall of Morton; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Dale "Butch" Schmidgall of Glasford, Ill., and John (Vickie) Schmidgall of Morton; and one sister, Joann (Bill) Rainwater of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary worked 40 years for Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 2003 from Morton Parts Distribution Center in Logistics.
He was a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church.
Gary enjoyed the outdoors and camping with his family and friends from church.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sun., Dec. 30, 2018 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Additional visitation will be held at Peoria Apostolic Christian Church on Mon., Dec. 31, from 9 to 9:45 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. funeral service, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Peoria Apostolic Christian Church or to the Alzheimer's Association - Central IL Chapter.
