George Taylor

MORTON – George H. Taylor, 84, of Morton, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born on May 13, 1938 in Minneapolis, Minn., to Harold and Loretta (Schneider) Taylor. He married Dolores “Dee” Frank in Pekin, Ill., on April 16, 1956.

Surviving are his wife, Dee Taylor of Morton; four children, Barb (Tom) Wallace of Deer Creek, Debi (Joe) Crandell of East Peoria, George (Chris) Taylor, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Steve (Jill) Taylor of Milton, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, David (Anna), Stephanie (Cory) Jessica (Corey), Josh, Cyndi (Logan) Courtney (Brad), Whitney (Andrew), Cameron (Emily), Zack, Mackenzie (Adam), Savannah and Jonah; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Kathy Soswa of Oxnard, Calif.

George was a brick mason for local contractors for 56 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of Optimist Club in Morton, Mid Illinois Corvette Club and Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local #6 IL.

George was also a member of Morton Apostolic Christian Church where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with further visitation from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Runner’s Association or Morton Apostolic Christian Church.
