BARTONVILLE – Gloria June Lindner, 92, of Bartonville, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.

She was born December 15, 1930, in Pekin, Ill., to Joshua Hammond and Frances (Smith) Burris. Gloria married Johann Lindner on August 9, 1954, in Pekin. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2014.

Surviving are her children, Karl (Donna) Lindner of O’Fallon, Ill., Konrad (Lorraine) Lindner of Morton, Mark Lindner of Dunlap and Tim (Valerie) Lindner of Morton; six grandchildren, Lindsay, Andrew, Rachel, Max, Lily, Markie, and four great-grandchildren.

Gloria graduated from Pekin High School and was chosen for the National Honor Society.

She worked for 10 years as a secretary at Keystone Steel and Wire after which she left to raise her children.

Gloria’s family was her life. She enjoyed spending time with her children and helped them with their educational development. She took great pride in each of their accomplishments.

Gloria was blessed with six grandchildren of whom she adored and cherished special relationships.

Gloria and Johann spent 50 years in Bartonville. While there, Gloria volunteered as a reading and teaching assistant at the Bartonville Grade School. She was a devout Lutheran and was involved in many different church activities.

For the past 10 years, Gloria battled vascular dementia. The last eight years were spent at the Lutheran Hillside Village, where she enjoyed listening to Sunday sermons. She developed relationships with many residents and staff members and was known for her kind and easy-going personality.

Gloria’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Lutheran Hillside Village and OSF Hospice for their skilled and compassionate care.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Hillside Village or Alzheimer’s Association.
