Harry Schmidgall

MORTON – Harry L. Schmidgall, 91, of Morton, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

He was born on March 29, 1931, in Edelstein, Ill., to Frederick and Lydia (Dallinger) Schmidgall. He married Helen Kaiser in Morton, Ill., on June 15, 1952. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2015. He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Mark Nelson; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving are four children, Steven (Christine) Schmidgall of Peoria, Randy (Cindy) Schmidgall of Goodfield, Jane (Jeff) Kieser of Morton and Sherry Jones of East Peoria; eight grandchildren, Heidi (Steve) LaFont, Hans (Mandy) Schmidgall, Angela (Jared) Schieber, Brent (Abby) Schmidgall, Scott (Arika) Kieser, Trent Kieser, Monica (Tim) Blank and Alicia (Jared) Oltman; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Martin of Eureka.

Harry farmed in the Morton and Tremont area for many years. He also worked many years in the concrete and construction business for Roecker Brothers, PJ Hoerr and Aupperle Construction.

Harry was a member of Morton Apostolic Christian Church where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the Morton Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall. Further visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
