DEER CREEK – James H. “Jim” Call, 79, of Deer Creek, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Reflections Memory Care in Morton.
He was born on December 5, 1943, in Peoria, to James H. and Lillian (Kirchgessner) Call. Jim married Melva Chandler on September 5, 1980, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, Melva Call of Deer Creek; son, Darrin Call of Washington; stepdaughter, Leesa (David) Boyd of Fla.; grandson, Andrew Call of Miami, Fla. and sisters, Connie (Dan) Schweigert of Tremont and Marilyn (Wayne) Weachter of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by sons, Matthew and 1st Sgt. Jason Call and two stepsons, Scott and Robert Curtis.
Jim was an Air National Guard veteran; having served for 32 years.
He owned and operated Call Repair Service in Deer Creek for 15 years. Jim was a member of Operating Engineers Local, working out of the hall for many years, retiring in 2006.
He was also a member of Deer Creek American Legion Post 1276.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Deer Creek Fire Department.
