MORTON GROVE, ILL. – Jon “Terry” Modlin, 82, of Morton Grove, Ill., passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria, Ill.
He was born on August 14, 1938 to Francis and Frances (Crow) Modlin. He married Betty Pinkerton in Peoria, Ill., on June 8, 1963.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Modlin of Morton Grove, Ill.; two children, Lisa (Jim) Horwich of Cincinnati, Ohio and Steve Modlin of Oak Ridge, N.J.; two grandchildren, Madison and Jordan Horwich; sister, Sandra Bitzer of Naples, Fla.; and two brother-in-laws, Bob Pinkerton of Morton and Bill (Jan) Pinkerton of Durham, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Heidi Richards.
Terry graduated from SIUC with a Master’s degree in education and was a middle school Industrial Arts teacher in Lincolnwood, Ill. for 30 years.
He was very involved with Boy Scouts of America for over 45 years as a volunteer.
Cremation rites will be accorded. No service will be held.
Memorials may be made to Northeast Illinois Council, with “Camp Makajawan Summer Camp Program" in the memo, and mailed to Robert Sinda, 850 Forest Edge Drive, Vernon Hills, IL 60061.
