JUDITH A. "JUDY" KAULFUSS
ELGIN, ILL. - Judith Ann "Judy" Kaulfuss, 76, of Elgin, Ill., formerly of Morton, passed away Wed., May 16, 2018, at Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Ill.
She was born Nov. 29, 1941, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Harvey P. and Helen D. (Strauss) Kaulfuss.
Surviving are one sister, Jane Replogle of Conyers, Ga.; three nephews, Tim Replogle of Conyers, Steve (Gina) Replogle of Douglasville, Ga, and John (Amy) Replogle of Tremont, Ill.; two great-nieces, Rachel and Rebekkah Replogle; three great- nephews, Tyler, Andrew and Benjamin Replogle; and special friends, Diana and Ronnie Stroud, and Miguel Duarte, Sr.
Judy was preceded in death by both parents; her sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Bill Replogle; and several aunts and uncles.
Judy received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Science Degree in Education from Northern Illinois University. She was a teacher at Huff School in District-U-46 in Elgin her entire career. After retirement, Judy worked part-time for the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois and was a CASA Volunteer.
Judy was a member of Community United Church of Christ in Morton and was also a member of First Presbyterian Church-USA of Elgin, where she served on several committees.
She was a member of many organizations throughout her lifetime. For more than 10 years, Judy was a member of Saints Organization and was a member of Retired Elgin Teachers Association, AAUW, AAUW Bridge Roundtable, Risky Business Investment Club, and Chicago Botanic Garden. She was especially fond of the arts. Judy enjoyed being an usher for many of the fine arts events and singing in the Elgin Choral Union. She was also an active member of The Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Art Institute, and The Chicago Symphony. Judy also belonged to the monthly breakfast club at the YMCA in Elgin, where she enjoyed swimming.
Judy had a passion for quilting. She was a member of the St. Charles Quilting Club and was also involved in several other local quilting groups. She was especially fond of taking cruises and enjoyed visiting many parts of the world, such as Germany, England, Italy, Russia, and China.
One of her greatest loves were the Chicago Cubs; she was a loyal fan and season ticket holder since 1983. Judy made it a point to see every movie that came out, often sharing them with her friends, great nieces and nephews. When she wasn't researching what movie to see next, she could always be found reading a good book.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at Community United Church of Christ in Morton on Wed., May 23, 2018. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Chuck Maney officiating. A time for fellowship and lunch will be held at the church immediately following the service. Burial will be held at a later date at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
