Karen Epkins

MORTON - Karen S. Epkins, 82, of Morton, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, in Morton.

She was born on March 3, 1940, in Peoria, Ill., to Lyle and Helen (Guler) Metz. She married Jon “Jack” Epkins in East Peoria, Ill., on February 14, 1960. He survives.

Also surviving are her two sons, Tim Epkins and Dan Epkins, both of Morton; four grandchildren, TJ (Caitlin) Epkins, Tad (Liz) Epkins, Hunter Epkins, and Hannah Epkins; two great-grandchildren, Axel and Carol Epkins; and brother, Jerry Metz.

Karen worked for many years at the First National Bank in Morton. She later worked for Morton School District 709 as a teacher’s aide.

Karen enjoyed wintering in Mission, Texas for 22 years and spending summers at Kentuckiana Kampground. She was a member of Minier Christian Church.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Minier Christian Church.
