Karen Viergever

MORTON – Karen Susan Rose Viergever, 70, of Morton, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Karen was born on September 9, 1952 in Hays, Kansas to Gilbert and Flora (Korbe) Legleiter. She married David Viergever on April 5, 1975, in Willard, Kansas.

Karen is survived by her husband, David Viergever of Morton; daughter, Katrina Viergever of Pekin; son Andrew (Jordan) Viergever of Bradenton, Florida; three grandchildren, Jessica Viergever and Aspen and Emery Viergever; and one brother-in-law, Charles Mettler of Cabot, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Sheila Mettler.

Karen worked at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton for 37 years.

Karen attended several churches through the years including Faith Baptist Church of Morton and First Baptist Church of Morton. She was currently attending Summit Point in East Peoria.

Karen loved taking care of her husband David and especially enjoyed the time they spent traveling together.

She deeply loved her family especially her grandchildren who meant so much to her.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Central Illinois Chapter.
