Karolyn Crouch

MORTON – Karolyn “Kay” Crouch, 84, of Morton, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at her home.

She was born on March 30, 1938, in Richland Center, Wisc., to Byron and Edna (Shireman) McCauley and was one of eight children. She is survived by her sister, Marlene Truesdale and brother, Elmer McCauley

Kay married Samuel Kent Sr. and had three children, Susan, Samuel Jr. and Douglas. She later married David Crouch on April 18, 1981, and happily opened her heart to a new daughter, Beth Anne Crouch. They were married for over 40 years before Dave preceded her in death on December 1, 2021.

Surviving are her sons, Sam (Jacky) Kent and Doug (Carrie) Kent, both of East Peoria; two daughters, Sue (Tim) Adams of Macomb, Ill. And Beth Anne (Devin) Killen of Tremont; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and her recent housemate, Jolene the cat.

Kay went to nursing school in Madison, Wisc. and became a registered nurse. She worked for several doctors in Morton over her nursing career and continued to work into her 80’s. Kay worked for Dr. S. Koch since 1984. She was a devoted Packers fan and enjoyed many years of following the Peoria Rivermen hockey team with Dave. Kay loved attending the grandchildren’s activities, cooking and crocheting gifts for family members and friends.

She was a member of Morton United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 9 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, prior to the service, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
