LANNY LAUGHLAND
Oconomowoc - Lanny Gene Laughland, 83, of Oconomowoc, Wisc., formerly of Morton, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on March 24, 2018.
Lanny was the oldest of four children, born in Eldorado, Ill., on Sept. 30, 1934, to John James and Opal Pauline Laughland. On Oct. 1, 1955, Lanny married the love of his life, Evelyn Marie "Mickey" Ferrell. They were married for 62 years.
Lanny is survived by his wife, Mickey Laughland of Oconomowoc, Wisc.; four children, Deborah Lynn Bonnett of Columbus, Ohio, Stephen Michael Laughland of Delafield, Wisc., Gregory Brian Laughland (Mickey Dunne-Laughland) of Rochester, Minn., and Jeffrey Garth Laughland (Kim Field) of Sussex, Wisc. Lanny always wanted to be a grandpa and he got his wish 10 times with Tiffany, Ashley, Jonathon, Joshua, Daniel, Timothy, Shane, Susanna, Gabriella and Theodore. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind his three siblings, Jerry (Beverly) Laughland, JoAnne (Harry) Norton, and Chuck Laughland. Lanny was an avid animal lover, and he also leaves behind two rescued cats, Benji and Rose, four grandkitties, and five granddogs.
Lanny is preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Peoria Central High School and attended Bradley University.
Lanny worked as an accountant at Caterpillar's World Headquarters for 35 years. He also worked as a controller for Ruppman Advertising. During World War II as a grade schooler, he was often called upon to play "Taps" on the trumpet at returning deceased service members' funerals. He was also an avid baseball fan, player and devoted coach. His favorite place to vacation was anywhere his family was.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Sat., April 7, 2018, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, with Father Mark DeSutter officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, at the church.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS).
