Lauretta Ferguson

MORTON – Lauretta E. Ferguson, 76, of Morton, peacefully completed her journey through cancer on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

She was born January 12, 1947, in Peoria, to Rolland and L. Bernice (Morehead) Greenway. Lauretta married Ernest Ferguson on November 24, 1973, in Bellview, Ill.

Surviving are her husband, Ernie of Peoria; daughter, Dana (Chris) Miller of Westminster, Md.; son, Jon (Jennifer) Ferguson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and grandchildren, Ben and Josiah Miller and Jacob, Tyson, and Marissa Ferguson.

Lauretta was preceded in death by two older brothers prior to her birth.

She was a Washington primary school teacher for 10 years, retiring in 1979, so that she could provide love and support for her own children. She will be remembered for her enduring faith, for her infectious smile, and for the continual songs in her heart.

Lauretta was a beloved member of Grace Church in Morton, where a celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023, with Pastor Steve Kellerstrass officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to South Side Christian Academy in Peoria.
