LELAND BAILEY

MORTON – Leland E. Bailey, 91, of Morton, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born on November 20, 1930, in Pekin, to Ervin and Myrla (Lohnes) Bailey. He married Marilyn Simpson on November 28, 1959, in Aurora, Ill.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Bailey of Morton; son, John Bailey of Morton; daughter, Sharon (Mark) Wabel of Groveland; two grandchildren, Leah (Matt Ramaekers) Wabel of West Des Moines, Iowa and Sam Wabel of Groveland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Evans.

Leland worked 45 years at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1993 and was the last factory manager of buildings J through X.

He was an avid fan of high school and college sports.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Runners’ Association.
