LEO D. GOODYEAR
MORTON - Leo D. Goodyear, 96, of Morton, passed away at 12:05 a.m., Sunday, May 27, 2018, at his home.
He was born June 21, 1921, in rural Morton on the family farm, to Howard and Lois Dodds Goodyear. He married Shirley Brumhead on August 27, 1950, at the Chillicothe Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2012.
Surviving are his three sons, Greg (Teresa) Goodyear of Morton, Stan (Susan Perry) Goodyear of Davenport, Iowa, and Tim (Mary) Goodyear of Normal; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Kevin) Ernst of Wentzville, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Matthew Goodyear, Rachel (Jason) Smith, Jonathan (Kelli) Goodyear, Jessica (Clark) Kaeb, Justin Goodyear, Jordan Goodyear, Brooke Goodyear, Dylan Goodyear, Michael Goodyear and Beau Jungels; and eight great-grandchildren, Lizzie and Evie Smith, Leah, Zoe, Benaiah and Ezra Goodyear and Jett & Lux Kaeb; one brother, Howard Goodyear of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Goodyear, and one infant son, Gilbert Goodyear, two brothers, and one sister.
Leo served in the Army during WWII where he was assigned to the 5th Army, 9th M.R.U. He was a member of the Morton VFW Post 5921 and was also a member of the Morton United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where services will the held on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gary L. Feldman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton where military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army.
Memorials may be made to Morton United Methodist Church Building Fund.
