Margaret Hauter

MORTON – Margaret L. Hauter, 96, of Morton, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Reflections Memory Care in Morton.

Margaret was born on March 19, 1926, in Morton, to William and Laura (Miles) Hauter.

Surviving are her brother, Ed (Shirley) Hauter of Morton; 5 nieces and nephews; 23 grand nieces and nephews; and 32 great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one niece.

Margaret was a 1944 graduate of Morton High School and a 1948 graduate of the University of Illinois.

She worked as a social welfare employee for the State of Illinois for eight years. She then got a teaching position in the Pekin grade school system where she taught at Roosevelt and Wilson Schools for 29 years.  

A funeral service will be held for Margaret at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor Jonathan Chadbourn officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
