MARIE E. TAUFER
MORTON - Marie E. Taufer, 93, of Morton, passed away Tues., Aug. 21, 2018, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
Marie was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Morton, to Henry Sr. and Kathryn (Steiner) Grimm. She married Robert Taufer on May 4, 1947, in Morton. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1995. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Hank Grimm; and two sisters, Carolyn Easterling and Norma Zeller.
Surviving are four children, Dana (Kris) Taufer of Morton, Gail (Bill) Mayo of Morton, Ted (Kenda) Taufer of Goodfield, and Ree (Jim) Hartman of Congerville; and 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Joyce Domnick of Morton.
In her earlier years, Marie worked at Juliann Fabrics in Morton during the 1970's. She taught piano lessons for 45 years until she was 92 years old; teaching piano was a lifelong joy of hers. Marie was also a member of Peoria Area Music Teacher's Association and was actively involved in the PAMTA Monster Concerts. She was fond of gardening and sewing and was also a pioneer in gluten free cooking and was a member of the Central IL Celiacs Association of Peoria. Through the age of 92, Marie enjoyed attending the Fit and Fun exercise class through the Morton Park District.
She loved her family and prayed daily for them, leaving a legacy of serving Jesus Christ.
Marie was a member of the Morton Apostolic Christian Church.
Visitation will be held at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at Morton Apostolic Christian Church on Monday, Aug. 27, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 10 a.m., with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Church cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Restmor or to the Midwest Food Bank.
