MARILYN E. BUCKLEY
PEORIA - Marilyn Elizabeth Buckley, 87, of Peoria, passed away and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sun., Dec. 30, 2018, at Snyder Village in Metamora.
Born April 14, 1931, in North Platte, Neb., to Manley and Lola (Sanders) Hale. She married Marvin T. Buckley on March 29, 1951, in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her son Robb in 2015.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol (James) Bitner, of Jeffersonville, Ind.; one son, Mark (Karen) Buckley of Heyworth, Ill.; one brother Roland K. Hale of Jackson, Miss; eight grandchildren, Brad (Kathi) Bitner, Eric (Loretta) Bitner, Erin (Rob) Gray, Danielle (Chad) Walker, Samantha, Joshua, Courtney, Jarod Buckley; 20 great-grandchildren, (with one expected in March), and several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was a graduate of Peoria High School. She worked as a librarian in Peoria, Washington, Eureka and East Peoria and served as Christian Education Director at Arcadia Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria where she served as a VBS teacher, was a member of Community Bible Study, Monday morning prayer group and the kitchen committee.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Rob Gray will officiate. A graveside service will also be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
The family would like to thank Snyder Village for the compassionate care she received.
Memorials may be made to the Snyder Village "Resident in Need Fund".
