Marvin Getz

MORTON – Marvin G. Getz, 95, of Morton, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

He was born on February 22, 1927, in Morton, Ill., to George and Lavina (Stoller) Getz. He married Lois Zimmerman on September 10, 1950, in Roanoke, Ill. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2020. Marvin was also preceded in death by one grandson, Tomas Albonico; one great granddaughter, Belle Barth; one brother, Howard; and two sisters, Milly Zimmerman and Edith Getz.

Surviving are his children, Jeanie (Robert) Barth of Fort Myers, Fla., Sharon (Sergio) Albonico of Tijeras, N.M., Annie (Allen) Weeks of Morton, Mark (Ruth) Getz of Morton and Steve (LeAnne) Getz of Urbandale, Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 10 great grandsons; and one great granddaughter.

Marvin graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a design engineer at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1989.  After retirement, Marvin returned to Caterpillar for contract work for numerous years. Marvin was a member of Apostolic Christian Church in Morton, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
