Mary "Connie" Van Dyke

PEKIN – Mary C. “Connie” Van Dyke, 97, of Pekin, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Reflections Memory Care in Pekin.

She was born on March 27, 1925, in Anchor, Ill., to Bert and Vera (Fitzgerald) Taylor. She married Charles Van Dyke on October 6, 1944, in Los Angeles, Cali. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2019. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Jill Van Dyke and 11 siblings.

Connie is survived by two children, Bruce Van Dyke of Pekin and Tami (Curt) Gleichman of Bartonville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Eric (Cassie) Teddy of Arlington, Texas, Ryan (Angelica) Van Dyke of Naperville, Ill., Amy (Quinn) Headington of Mooresville, N.C. and Amanda Van Dyke of Pekin; and eight great grandchildren.

She worked at State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Ill.. She then later taught art in Salem, Ill. and working retail.

Connie loved her three children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed oil painting and sewing. Connie and Charles enjoyed many trips in their RV during retirement.

She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Salem, Ill.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Runners’ Association.
