MARY K. HEUBACH
MORTON - Mary K. Heubach, 90, of Morton, passed away peacefully Sun., Sept. 3, 2017, at Washington Christian Village.
Mary was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Peoria, to Charles and Rose (Woodruff) Rogers. While attending college in Peoria, Mary met her husband, Robert D. Heubach, whom she married on Sept. 19, 1948 in Peoria.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Heubach Kelly of Denver, Colo., and Barb (George) Kelly of Morton; one son, William (Vickie) Heubach of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, and step-father Major Ruben Haggerty.
After graduating from Bradley University in 1948 with a Bachelor in Arts degree, Mary worked as a 5th grade teacher at Morton Jr. High School and later taught at Jefferson Grade School in Morton from 1960 to 1970. She then worked as a substitute teacher for District 150 in Peoria and also taught special education at Grundy School in Morton, until retiring in 1990. Mary also enjoyed teaching piano lessons out of her home for many years.
Mary and her husband raised their family in Morton and were actively involved in the community. She was a lifelong member of the Morton United Methodist Church where she sang with the Contemporary Christian Singers. She was also a member of the church's Joanna Circle.

There will be a private graveside service held for the family. Burial will be in Hirstein Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Morton United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Washington Christian Village who cared for her in her final years in such a compassionate manner. She will be greatly missed by all.
