Michel B. Khouri

MORTON - Michel B. Khouri, 76, of Morton, passed away peacefully in his home on Mon., July 23, 2018.
Michel was born on April 12, 1942, in Tripoli, Lebanon, to the late Badwi and Salwa (Daoud) Khouri. He married Mary Ann Slyman on March 22, 1969.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann; three children, Nicole (Rich) Khouri Radil, Reiad (Mary) Khouri, Anthony (Tonya) Khouri; and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Tony (Emily) Khouri of Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Michel and Mary Ann spent their early years of marriage living in Galena, Ill., where he taught high school French. He later moved to Peoria where he began managing a book store, which is in line with his passion for reading. Michel owned and operated River City Café in Peoria for over 30 years. It was this part of his career that brought him the most happiness and many lifelong friendships that he cherished.

Michel was a member of St. Sharbel Maronite Church in Peoria where a funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Sat., July 28, 2018, with Chorbishop Faouzi Elia and Fr. Bechara Awada officiating. Visitation will also be held at St. Sharbel's from 5 to 8 p.m., on Fri., July 27, with a Maronite service and rosary at 7:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m., prior to the Mass on Saturday. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Sharbel Maronite Church in Peoria, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
