EAST PEORIA – Mildred H. “Millie” Theissen, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at River Crossing of East Peoria.
Millie was born on September 15, 1932, in Carbondale, Ill., to Clyde and Buelah (Corzine) Shadowens. She married Alvin Bentley on October 22, 1955 in Pekin. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1999. She later married Charles “Bud” Theissen on November 28, 2009. He survives.

Millie is also survived by four daughters, Kay (Steve) Young of East Peoria, Fay (Rick) Gilman of Peoria, Ron Vincent of Morton, May (Stephan) Doerr of Germantown Hills and Amanda (James) Rogy of Marquette Heights; four step-children, Bennett Theissen of Los Angeles, Calif., Kevin (Gail) Theissen of Milwaukee, Wis., Jeffry (Jeanene) Theissen of East Peoria, and Becky Miller of Chicago; one sister, Shirley Smith of Murphysboro, Ill.; two brothers, Irvin (Judy) Shadowens of Mulkeytown, Ill. and Ron (Cindy) Shadowens of Murphysboro, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Candace Shadowens of Goreville, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Millie was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Millie enjoyed spending time in her garden and had a passion for cooking. She showed her love for others by sharing her cooking with them.

Millie dearly loved her four daughters and the relationships she had with each of them.

Most importantly, Millie loved the Lord.

A funeral service for Millie will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor Steve Weber officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton. 
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
