MORTON - Molly J. LeVar, 89, of Morton, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at UnityPoint Methodist in Peoria.
Molly was born on March 27, 1933, in Watford, England, to Les and Ruby (Jewel) White. In the late 1940s, Molly’s parents moved from England to the small town of Mt. Morris, Ill., where she met and married the LOVE of her life, Ronald R. LeVar, on December 26, 1953. They were married 64 wonderful years before he preceded her in death on April 23, 2017. Also preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, Derrick.
Surviving are her children, Deborah (Ron) Hawkins of Loganville, Ga., Gary (Lori) LeVar of Morton, Ill. and Denise (Greg) DeGraaf of Grand Haven, Mich.; her grandchildren, Sarah (Scott) Currington, Aimee (Will) Link, Robert (Jessica) LeVar, Katie DeGraaf, Anna (Malcom) Davidson; and 11 amazing great-grandchildren; Nora and Levi Currington, Hayden and Austin Link, Hazel, Frankie and Felix LeVar, and Sully, Cooper, Addy and Maddy DeGraaf.
Molly was a loving wife, caring mother and very proud grandmother and great-grandmother who was known to all her family as Nana! Besides family, the second most important thing in Molly’s life was friendships. Many of her friendships were for 60 to 70 years and these friends were supporting her with love and kindness up to the last moments of her life.
Molly was a dedicated member of the Methodist Service League for over 30 years and spent countless hours on Wednesday afternoons with her fellow Service League members sewing and creating beautiful craft and gift items for the hospital gift shop and annual sale.
To say Molly was a “sports enthusiast” would be an understatement! With her equally dedicated husband beside her, Molly was a life-long Cub fan during the summer and a very loyal Morton Lady Potter basketball fan during the winter.
For the past few years Molly was living at The Villas of Holly Brook in Morton, where she enjoyed time with so many wonderful friends, staff and caregivers who loved and cared for her each day!
Molly’s wish was to have no formal funeral, but instead have a Celebration of Life at a later time when her family and friends can be together.
