MORTON – Phyllis J. Yordy, 92, of Morton, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
She was born on October 21, 1929, in Peoria, Ill., to Warren and Verna (Thomson) Bauman. She married Harold Yordy in Morton, Ill., on December 26, 1948. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lois Aberle.
Surviving are one daughter, Dianne Weer of Lexington, Ill.; one son, Mike (Jenny) Yordy of Morton; six grandchildren, Julie (George) Maglares, Scott Weer, Natalie Weer, Michael (Holly) Yordy II, Jason (Tricia) Yordy, and Sara (Travis) Cowley; and seven great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was a member of First Mennonite Church in Morton where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was a founding member of the Youth Farm in Peoria, where she served as board secretary.
Phyllis enjoyed sewing, baking, and creating flower arrangements for which she won many awards.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at First Mennonite Church in Morton, with Pastor Doane Brubaker officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Tremont, Ill.
Memorials may be made to First Mennonite Church in Morton or Peoria Rescue Ministries.
The family would like to thank the staff at Apostolic Christian Skylines Home Care, Apostolic Christian Restmor and UnityPoint Hospice for their excellent care.
