WASHINGTON – Raymond Boswell, 87, of Washington, Ill., passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at his daughter’s home in Morton.
He was born on July 15, 1934, in Dunfermline, Ill., to Bruce and Flora (Duquenne) Boswell. He married Arlene Hancock in Peoria, Ill., on June 4, 1967. She preceded him in death on November 13, 1993. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Caleb Neuhauser; and one sister, Nita Marks.
Surviving are his children, Jon Boswell of Washington, Ill., Kurt (Earlene) Bendschneider of Dekalb, Ill., Faith (Tim) Neuhauser of Morton, and Rae Anne (Steven) Hale of Washington, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; four step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Ray was a US Army veteran, having served from 1957 to 1959, and was then in the Army National Guard. He worked as an auto mechanic in Peoria, and then later worked as shop foreman at Koerner Electric. Ray also had previously been a volunteer fireman with the Peoria Heights Fire Department.
Ray was a Master Mason in the Grand Lodge of AF & AM Hilton Lodge #1143. He was also a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and Radnor Rod and Gun Club.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Interment services will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Runners Association.
