Robert Hines

MORTON – Robert J. “Bob” Hines, 93, of Morton, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Liberty Village in Peoria.

Bob was born on September 21, 1929, in Peoria, to William and Elsie (Schneider) Hines. He married Betty Nixon on November 10, 1956, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2022. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Jim and two sisters, Catherine Landes and Carol Brophy.

Surviving are his children, Dee Dee (Paul) Saupe of East Peoria, Sandy Streeter of Morton and Bob (Courtney) Hines of Groveland; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, John “Dick” (Kay) Hines of Port Orange, Fla.

Bob was a U.S. Army veteran.

He worked as a building contractor in Morton for 26 years, retiring in 1996.

Bob attended Bradley University. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both in Morton.

Bob was an avid Cubs fan and outdoorsman.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, with Msgr. Gerald Ward officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday, prior to the Mass at the church. Burial of cremated remains with military rites will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, Knights of Columbus, T.A.P.S. or Kennel Lake Sportsmen’s Club in Morton.
