MORTON - Robert W. Kirk, 93, of Morton, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019, at his home, with family at his side.
Robert was born on August 21, 1926, in Terre Haute, Ind., to C. Weir and Etta (Zimmerman) Kirk. He married Hazel Hodson on January 29, 1949, in Terre Haute, Ind. She preceded him in death on September 9, 1998. He later married Betty Baird on March 2, 2000, in Morton. She survives.
Robert is also survived by one son, Robert W. (Dronda) Kirk, Jr. of Perryville, Mo.; two daughters, Etta Lynn (Randy) Bose of Herrin, Ill., and Jo Ellen (Doug) Sperry of Danvers; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Robert was a US Army Veteran and served in WWII for two years. He then taught high school business in Lancaster, Minn. and was later the principal of Wapella Unit 5 High School. In 1945, at the age of 29, Robert became the superintendent of the Wapella School District. He last took the assistant superintendent job of Unit 5 School District in Normal, Ill., retiring in 1986.
Robert was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, with Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and also from 9-9:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday, prior to the service. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton.
