ROBERT E. KNOBLOCH
TREMONT - Robert E. "Bob" Knobloch, 88, of Tremont, passed away Tues., Dec. 5, 2017 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, where he had been a resident since June 2016.
Bob was born in Wyoming, Ill., the son to William and Pauline (Feucht) Knobloch, on July 9, 1929. At the age of 17, he gave his life to the Lord and served Him faithfully for 71 years. He married Marvel Moser on Nov. 11, 1951, in Oakville, Iowa.
Surviving are his wife, Marvel, of Tremont; four children, Kent, Kay (Scott) Sinn, Carla (Tom) Schafer, and Chris Aberle; eight grandchildren, Nate and Jem Suttor, Rachel and Kyle Wallner, Kenneth Sinn, Michelle Sinn, Philip and Becca Schafer, Isaac and Holly Schafer, Drew and Lindsey Aberle, and Ben Aberle; and six great-grandchildren, Gus and Moxie Suttor, Mia Sinn, Kael Schafer, Adelyn and Amelia Aberle. Also surviving are three sisters, Lillian Elsasser, RoseAnn Aeschleman, and Irene Weyenth.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Cathy Suttor. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Ed, Nick, Jim, and sisters, Ruth Kieser and Esther Kieser.
Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1952. He was stationed in Texas and also in Korea.
He owned and operated a farm for 21 years, where they raised their children. Bob loved the outdoors and took delight in being in God's creation. He felt called to serve in another area and became the administrator of the Apostolic Church Home for the Handicapped (presently known as LifePoints) from 1971 to 1994. He worked diligently to help the residents obtain dignity, rights, loving care, and opportunities they had not known before.
During his retirement years, he and his wife appreciated visiting many foreign countries and enjoyed learning different cultures, sometimes for pleasure and sometimes for mission work. He enjoyed his time spent in Russia through CoMission.
He was a member of the Gideons for many years and participated their prison ministry.
Bob was a member of Apostolic Christian Church in Morton where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Sat., Dec. 9, 2017, with church ministers officiating. The church is located at 2201 Veterans Road, Morton, IL 61550. Visitation will from 4 to 7 p.m., Fri., Dec. 8, at the Morton Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall located next to the church. Additional visitation will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m., at the Apostolic Christian Church prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Morton.
