MORTON - Robert W. "Dutch" Koehler, 95, of Morton, went to Heaven on Thurs., Nov. 29, 2018.
Robert was born April 22, 1923, in Benson, Ill, to Paul W. and Hazel (Turner) Koehler. He married Mildred E. Jording on Dec. 9, 1945, at Lutheran Church in Secor, Ill. She preceded Robert in death on Feb. 7, 2010. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dinah J. Nordholm; two brothers, Richard D. Koehler and Bill Koehler; one sister, Mary Neavill; and one son-in-law, Bob Stephens.
Surviving are one son, Tom (Diana) Koehler of Warrensburg, Ill.; three daughters, Linda Sue Nelms of Pekin, Janet (Joe) Hall and Nancy Stephens, both of Morton; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, David (Bonnie) Koehler of Dwight, Ill.; one sister, Ruth Jebe of Minonk, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Millie Koehler of El Paso, Ill. and Beverly Koehler of Benson, Ill. and one son-in-law, Glen Nordholm of Decatur, Ill.
Robert spent 32 months in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII, with 18 of those months in Mandri, Italy.
He worked 20 years for Service Transportation Lines, numerous years for Sturm Freightways, and Hyman Freightways.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Rod Schertz officiating. Burial will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton, where full military funeral honors will be conducted.
