Robert McConkey

MORTON– Robert G. McConkey, 91, of Morton, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at his home.

He was born on March 5, 1932, in Morton, to Robert D. and Ann A. (Dietrich) McConkey. Robert married Mary Ellen Ginther on May 20, 1958, in Pekin. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roy Dale McConkey.

Surviving are his daughter, Robin McConkey of Morton; one niece; one nephew and many cousins.

He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.

Robert was a self-employed contractor in Morton, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton. Robert was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5921 and American Legion Post 318, both of Morton. He was also a member of Carpenters Local 183 in Peoria, Illinois Valley Antique Auto Club, Antique Automobile Club of American and Model A Restorers Club.

Burial was at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran School in Morton or T.A.P.S.
