SANDY M. DESANTIS
MORTON - Sandy M. DeSantis, 91, of Morton, passed away Sat., Sept. 16, 2017, at his residence in Morton.
Sandy was born Aug. 31, 1926, in Trumbull Co., Ohio, to Sandy and Venerina (Rock) DeSantis. He married Betty Jane Greil on April 28, 1956 in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jane "BJ" DeSantis of Morton; five children, Paula (Steven) Mathes of Richmond, Va., Mark (Chris) DeSantis of Pekin, Matt (Stephanie) DeSantis of Washington, Celeste (Eric) Hansen of Tremont, and Cathy Mueller of Morton. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Sandy was preceded in death by one brother, Chester and one sister, Anna Maria.
In 1951, Sandy graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, attaining a Bachelor's degree in Economics. He was a member of the Xavier University Alumni Association.
He was a United States Navy veteran, having served during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
Sandy worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1987 as an international parts sales consultant.
He was a member of Morton Knights of Columbus Council 4194 and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, where services will be held.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, with a memorial Mass following at 11a.m. Fr. Kyle Lucas and Fr. Matt Deptula will preside over the Mass. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Navy at the church following the Mass. Burial will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Building Fund, and to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
